Paralympic Medalist Matt “The Armless Archer” Stutzman Speaks at West End House

img_2192West End House joined Osnat Levy Team, a Newton-based realtor with William Raveis Real Estate, on Friday, December 9th to host 2016 Team USA Paralympian and 2012 Paralympic Silver Medalist Matt “The Armless Archer” Stutzman. Over 150 young people ages 7-18 gathered to hear Stutzman’s story.

Stutzman, a Guinness World Records Title Holder for Longest Accurate Archery Shot, was inexplicably born without arms. Now as an adult and father, Stutzman can eat, groom, write, play the guitar, drive a car, and shoot a penny from 50 yards away — all with his feet.

“My parents taught me that I can do anything as long as I work hard and never give up. When I was 10, I wanted to be the best basketball player in the world. My dad didn’t point out that I don’t have arms. He bought me a basketball and told me to start practicing,” said Stutzman.

He has captivated youth and adults across the world through his public speaking, and inspires others to believe that they too—regardless of who they are, what they look like, or what challenges they face — are capable of achieving their goals. “All throughout my life I have faced challenges. Everyone in this room faces challenges. But if a guy with no arms can shoot a target across three football fields, you can achieve your dreams, too.”
