Volunteer Opportunities

You can make a difference. Join us through one or more of these opportunities:

Reading Buddy Volunteers

The program is designed to help children improve their comprehension and reading fluency, while also developing a lifelong love of reading. Volunteers are partnered one-on-one or two-on-one with a WEH member and meet every week to read aloud for one hour. Be a “Buddy” Monday–Friday between 3:30–6:30pm during the school year, and Monday–Thursday between 12:30–5:00pm during the summer months. If you are interested, please apply here.

Tutoring/Homework Support Volunteers

Helps Club members ages 8-18 achieve academic success by providing homework help, tutoring and encouraging members to become self-directed learners. Volunteers are paired one-on-one or in small groups and support our Education Center and Success Lounge. Tutors are needed Monday-Friday between 3-8pm during the school year. If you are interested, please apply here.

Grocery Unloading/Packing Volunteers

Help us get ready for the upcoming week of grocery delivery by packaging boxes with frozen food items for local families and organizing non-perishable food items on select Saturdays. Volunteers will sign up for a 3.5 hour shift (8:30am to 12:00pm) on select Saturdays. Gloves, masks, and hand-washing facilities will be provided. If you are interested, please fill out a volunteer application here.

Grocery Packing and Distribution Volunteers

Help us with our bi-weekly grocery distribution by packing bags of non-perishable food items and distributing groceries to families in our parking lot on select Saturdays. Volunteers will sign up for a 3.5 or 4 hour shift (either 9:30am to 1pm or 12:00pm  to 4:30pm) on select Saturdays. If you are interested, please fill out a volunteer application here.
