Volunteers are essential to the success of West End House. Last school/program year, 350 volunteers dedicated their energy and talents to supporting our programming – contributing over 2,500 hours of hard work to our programs.
Currently we are offering the following volunteer opportunities within our Food for Families Program.
Grocery Delivery Driver Volunteers
Deliver groceries bi-weekly to households located inside or outside the Allston-Brighton area. Drivers will commit to a regular 2-hour slot every other Wednesday of the month (typically the 1st and 3rd Wednesday). Full details and instructions can be found here. If interested please contact Sarah MacPherson at 617-870-7513 or email@example.com.
Grocery Unloading and Packing Volunteers
Help us get ready for the upcoming week of grocery delivery by packaging boxes with frozen food items for local families and organizing non-perishable food items on select Saturdays or packaging bags with non-perishable food items on select Tuesday evenings. Each shift requires at least 2 adults. Volunteers will sign up for a 2 hour shift (8:30am to 10:30am, 9:30am to 11:30am, or 10:30am-12:30pm) on select Saturdays or a 2 hour shift on select Tuesdays (6:00pm to 8:00pm). We ask that when you sign up you have at least 1 other adult who can join you. We prefer that each group that signs up, if you have not been vaccinated, include those who are from the same household / sheltering in place together. Gloves, masks, and hand-washing facilities will be provided. Full details and instructions can be found here. If interested – please sign-up for a Saturday or Tuesday shift here.
If you or your group would like to get involved, please contact Community Engagement Coordinator Sarah MacPherson at 617-870-7513 or firstname.lastname@example.org
