At West End House we are redefining what it means to be a Boys & Girls Club. We foster a safe and secure environment for our young people, but that’s only the beginning. We are helping young people and teens from all over Boston progress and graduate from high school, and then persist and graduate from college. At West End House, youth are learning about healthy lifestyles and eating nutritious meals. They are expressing themselves creatively, performing in bands and staging plays. Our young people are improving their grades and making giant academic strides. They are discovering who they are and how to reach their full potential. Day after day and year after year, West End House is making a difference for the young people of Boston and their families.
Relationships are at the heart of everything West End House does and we truly believe that when you are surrounded by people who truly care about you, you are at your best. To build these relationship that will ultimately lead to positive outcomes for each young person, we use a strength based approach. We focus on what is right with the young person and build from there. We meet the young person where they are and celebrate progress. We offer honest feedback, but try in all cases to promote positive behaviors rather than trying to prevent negative ones. Finally, we provide opportunities for a young person to experience success every day.
