In response to the evolving public health emergency, West End House has moved swiftly to understand and meet the needs of our community. We continue to offer high-quality and interactive youth development programming, thoughtfully adapted to evolving health and safety guidelines.
Family Food Program
While in the past, we provided on-site meals and nutrition education to young people and families, we now offer weekly grocery deliveries that reach hundreds of individuals across Greater Boston providing more than 7,500 meals each week. Our grocery boxes are loaded with fresh produce, lean proteins, and grains and to ensure that every meal will meet USDA nutrition guidelines. Whenever possible, we include special extras such as hygiene kits, educational materials and art supplies.
Live Programming for Children and Teens
Our research-based youth programming has also had to adapt to the restrictions imposed by COVID-19. We now offer over 50 hours of virtual programming covering academic help, music, STEM, animation, and other visual and performing arts. Social Media dance challenges and “Artist of the Week” celebrations are another way we stay connected with our club members.
Alumni & Community
We continue to serve our wider community through ongoing college coaching for alumni and expanded parent and caregiver events. All of these programs tap into the strength and assets of community members, and are made possible by generous support from our wider community.
This video, created in an animation class, captures the spirit of our community as we continue to demonstrate care and support for one another.
