Kayla Tomas
Director of the Arts
Kayla joined the West End House in June 2024, bringing extensive experience in non-profit arts programming, theatre education, and a passion for youth development. Previously, she served as the Educational Programs Coordinator for NEMPAC, a Boston-based non-profit community music school and performing arts center. She earned her Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Education and Applied Theatre from Emerson College in May 2024, where her research and scholarship explored the intersection of theatre and social justice.
During the 2022-23 academic year, she served as the graduate Cutler Fellow in Arts for Emerson’s Office of Artistic Engagement where she collaborated closely with the artistic engagement team, as well as local and global artists, to enhance engagement efforts and cultivate diverse audiences reflective of the entire Boston community. Upon graduation, she was inducted into Tri Alpha, the national honor society for first-generation college students.
Since 2013, she has worked as a teaching artist in public schools, community centers, enrichment programs, and non-profit theatres, working with youth and adults. She is a firm believer in the cross-curricular nature of arts in schools and the transformative power the arts hold on young people.
