We are thrilled to announce that the Cummings Foundation has elevated its initial grant award to a 10-year commitment totaling $500,000 in support for our College and Career Program. This incredibly generous grant, part of their highly competitive Sustaining Grants initiative, is an unprecedented multi-year investment in our college-enrolled youth. The future looks even brighter for our alumni on college and career pathways. We wish to thank Bill and the entire Cummings Foundation for their commitment to this program.
Funding from the Cummings Foundation will provide college preparation, college and career coaching, and connections to paid internships for the hundreds of first-generation college students we work with each year.
“This generous financial commitment will help sustain our highly successful college coaching program for hundreds of our young alumni annually for the next decade,” said Andrea Howard, CEO of West End House. “We are ecstatic that the Cummings Foundation has chosen to invest in the next generation of young leaders in our community.”
In the past year, 96% of West End House seniors have graduated from high school. West End House also boasts an 86% college persistence rate for students who successfully advance from their 1st to 2nd year of college and a 91% college persistence rate for students who successfully advance from their 2nd to 3rd year of college.
