On Saturday, August 21st, the West End House hosted the Biggest Fun Ever!, an annual celebration and commemoration of Dawnn Jaffier, a lifelong West End House club and staff member. This event has become a meaningful way for our community to celebrate a beautiful life that was taken from us too soon. Before becoming an innocent victim of gun violence, Dawnn was a mentor and role model for hundreds of young people.
The West End House is strongly committed to the health and safety of our community so while we were unable to celebrate with our traditional community-wide block party event in Ringer Park – we continued to honor Dawnn’s legacy by spreading joy throughout our city in her honor!
This year there were 2 ways our community could safely and proudly celebrate Dawnn and the Biggest Fun Ever! 2021
- Share a smile and a flower
- Dance and have fun
Saturday afternoon community members stopped by West End House to pick up bouquets of orange roses at our outdoor art installation located behind the West End House in Ringer Park that pays tribute to a trio of Allston Brighton community advocates and icons – including Dawnn! Everyone was encouraged to wear their Biggest Fun Ever Swag and a mask. For those without swag, they were able to purchase a black commemorative Dawnn shirt. Roses were then passed along to others throughout the surrounding Allston/Brighton community and the city of Boston. They were given to individuals on the street, essential workers and others. Some were placed throughout the city at favorite places of Dawnn’s or where memories were shared with her.
