On May 1st, more than 300 people gathered at West End House  to share an evening of belonging and celebration of our young people! West End House Presents is our annual fundraising event where we host guests at the Club to learn from youth about the wonderful programs and spaces we offer here. This year’s event was a great success, raising over $920,000 for WEH Youth and Programs! Guests enjoyed exploring all three floors of our building, learned more about our wide variety of programs, bid on original works of art by our youth, and shopped at our Designed by Kids store – all while enjoying great food, drink, and company!

During our seated program we were excited to welcome the West End House Band to the stage and were inspired by remarks from our Alumna Speaker Niare Galvez. The program kicked off with the West End House Band playing ‘Don’t Stop Believing’, and later featured solo performer Ayla doing ‘A Million Dreams’ from The Greatest Showman. You can see both performances here. These fantastic musical performances were supported by our Music Mentors, Sean and Frankie, who coach and perform with our youth as part of our partnership with the Berklee College of Music.

We were excited to welcome back Amaka Ubaka as a Co-MC, alongside West End House alumnus Tyler Stewart. Tyler marked his return to the stage, having performed spoken word during our 2017 event, and Amaka brought her fabulous energy to our community for the third time as an Emcee! We also enjoyed the charisma of West End House Board Members Neal Yanofsky and Kenny Mascary who took to the stage during the live ask!

One of the most moving parts of the night came from our Alumna Keynote Speaker, Niare Galvez, a proud member of the Class of 2017 and one of the first youth to participate in our College & Career Pathways program. “West End House gave me space to grow and breathe and express myself. It helped me step outside my comfort zone and into my true self,” she shares. Niare, now an Event Creation Manager in New York City, still holds a deep fondness for West End House as a place that set her up for success. “From that girl who wasn’t quite sure where she’d fit in, to the woman now confident in her path—it all started with a ride up to the West End House.”

Thank you to those of you who celebrated with us at this year’s West End House Presents last month. Our youth were proud to connect with you and share their passion, talents, and enthusiasm.
