Today we continue to share more about our new outdoor art installation at the West End House that pays tribute to a trio of Allston Brighton community advocates and icons.
Brian J. Honan was born and raised in Brighton, just around the corner from West End House over on Gordon Street. Brian had a deep commitment to public service, a love of politics, a passion for sports and athletics, in particular basketball, and an incredible devotion to family and friends.
He was a West End House Club alum, Boston College graduate, Watertown teacher, mentor, and committed public servant. Brian was also a prosecutor for MA Suffolk County and Allston Brighton City Council representative. He continuously served the people of Allston-Brighton and beyond.
Though his life’s work ended too soon, Brian’s legacy and namesake lives on throughout the neighborhood including the Honan-Allston Library, the Allston Brighton Community Development Corporation sponsored Brian J. Honan Apartments, the Annual Brian Honan 5K Road Race, and the scores of graduates from the Brian J. Honan Fellowship at the West End House.
Stay tuned for the final installment of our three part series and see the complete masterpiece.
