"Live Long and Prosper"

Leonard Nimoy at the West End House

The West End House expresses its deepest condolences to family, friends, colleagues and fans of Leonard Nimoy, one our most famous "West Enders." We are proud to have played an instrumental role in his life during his formative years, including providing a scholarship to an acting program at Boston College. We are even prouder that he chose to return to the West End House and give back so that future generations could benefit from our programs.

Over the years, he sponsored a summer arts program for our young people to inspire a new generation of performers. He chaired our Honorary Centennial Committee and helped us celebrate in person at our 100th anniversary event. Last fall, he reached out again with a contribution to honor the powerful but too short legacy of our alumna Dawnn Jaffier.

Leonard Nimoy will always hold a special place in our hearts at the West End House. We are honored that he is part of our history. His iconic phrase sums up the wish that we work to fulfill for all of our young people:

"Live Long and Prosper"

Thank you Mr. Nimoy.

In Memory of Dawnn Jaffier

All of us at the West End House are shocked and saddened by the loss of our colleague and lifetime member of the West End House, Dawnn Jaffier. It is unimaginable that such a senseless act of violence took away such a gifted, kind and compassionate young woman. Her connection to the West End House started more than 15 years ago when she attended our program each day after school. Dawnn knew early on that her life would be committed to helping children. Support for the West End House Community

We are here to comfort and support the entire West End House family of children, families, alumni, friends and colleagues. If you want to talk with a member of our staff, be surrounded by others who loved Dawnn or speak with a professional who specializes in grief counseling — we are here for you. As you know, this is normally the week we are closed for staff training, but we will open each day so you can drop in and seek support. We encourage you to join us.

In addition, we have resources available to help parents and providers talk to their children about this tragedy. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to contact us at 617-787-4044 ext. 10
