BBJ Recognizes West End House and New Balance as Partners of the Year

On August 10th, Boston Business Journal recognized West End House and New Balance as one of the top corporate and nonprofit partnerships in Boston in 2016. The award ceremony took place at the Boston Business Journal’s 11th annual Corporate Citizenship Summit at Artists for Humanity presented by Citizens Bank on September 8, 2016.

The New Balance Foundation has been a longtime supporter of West End House, with a shared commitment to helping Boston’s youth achieve healthy bodies and healthy minds. Together, New Balance volunteers and West End House staff deliver fitness initiatives and academic, career readiness, and leadership development programs that ensure our youth’s long-term success in becoming productive, responsible, and caring citizens. As a core part of our partnership, we established and developed the New Balance Kids in Motion program, which supports daily fitness and nutrition activities for 350 youth annually throughout the Club. Additionally, New Balance has facilitated a partnership between West End House and Tufts University Friedman School of Nutrition, which annually evaluates our programs and helps us to use the data to improve upon program results.

In addition to New Balance’s incredible commitment to our program, this past year they made a transformative $3 million challenge gift to West End House’s Expect More Campaign, a comprehensive campaign that will expand and renovate our facility, including the addition of a new multi-purpose performing arts center and a new fitness center. This gift leveraged an additional $6 million in support from some of the leading foundations and corporations in the Boston area to meet the New Balance challenge. We are thrilled to celebrate our partnership with New Balance, and to continue to strengthen and grow our collaboration that is making such a tremendous impact on our community.
