Teens Get a New Perspective at “Paint Night”

Fifteen of our high school and college students made masterpieces at West End House’s inaugural paint night event on Friday, February 12th. Lindsey Kocur, Director of Visual Arts, gave the teens step-by-step instructions for how to paint a city landscape at sunset. From 7:30 until 9:00 pm, participants painted, jammed to music, and snacked on homemade double-chocolate brownies.

While many of the young artists had painted before, some were new to the technique altogether. As the teens put the finishing touches on their canvases, cleaned their paintbrushes, and packed their bags to go home, one newbie artist was still hard at work in front of his easel. He was the very last artist to go home that night — and after much labor, ended up loving his piece of art.
