West End House offers dynamic, year-round programs designed to help youth succeed in elementary school, middle school, high school, and beyond. Through individual and group support (homework help, one-on-one tutoring), timely academic interventions, and partnerships with schools and families, we provide high impact academic support. Some of our key initiatives include:
College Success: West End House is a proud member of the citywide Success Boston initiative created by The Boston Foundation and provides targeted support to Boston Public Schools graduates to help them earn a degree and enter the workforce. Our College Success Coaches work directly on college campuses to help students persist and graduate from college.
College Access: Our college access program begins by ensuring that middle school-age youth successfully research and choose the best high school opportunity available. Our dedicated staff help students navigate a successful path from high school to post-secondary education and careers opportunities that match their academic background and interests.
STEM Programming: We offer daily programs focused on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) including robotics, coding, and earth science activities. Our STEM programs are available for all ages and align with Common Core standards.
BE GREAT: Graduate: A Boys & Girls Clubs of America initiative that targets youth at-risk of dropping out of school. This program pairs middle and high school students 1-on-1 with adult mentors to develop their academic, emotional, and social skills necessary for academic success.
Reading Buddies: A literacy initiative pairing youth with adult volunteers in an interactive setting focused on reading activities designed to improve fluency and comprehension skills.
