This holiday season, we would like to introduce you to some of the youth of West End House. Each day this week, we will showcase one of our young people and their aspirations for 2017.
“I am looking forward to graduating from Boston Latin School, and gaining new experiences at a summer internship before I head off to college. I’m working with Ryan, West End House’s College Access Coordinator, to secure a meaningful internship so that I can build my professional skills, meet new people, and explore my interests. One internship that I’m exploring includes traveling to East Africa.
I’m also excited to start college in the fall. With Ryan’s support, I’ve submitted all of my college applications, and I’m going to make a decision this spring. In college, I plan to study academic areas that are outside my comfort zone to help me come out of my shell. Even though I’m looking forward to all of the opportunities that 2017 has in store, I am definitely going to miss West End House. I’ll come back to visit whenever I can.”
Carla is one of the 230 teens who receive 1-on-1 and group College Access Coaching at West End House. We are proud to offer programs that are positioning our young people for success in college and beyond.
P.S. Tomorrow, you will meet Gigi, a high school senior who recently received a full scholarship to Centre College through the Posse Foundation.
