Who We Serve

We are the most diverse after-school program in Boston.  More than 1,100 youth belong to the Club, and represent 40 countries and speak 10 different languages, including: Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Haitian/Creole, Portuguese, Russian, Vietnamese, Nepalese and American Sign Language. 

  • Our children represent the following racial and ethnic backgrounds: 28% are black; 28% are Hispanic; 22% are Asian; 8% are Caucasian; 7% are Brazilian; and 7% are other ethnicities, including Cape Verdean, Haitian, Caribbean Islands and multi-racial. 
  • More than 70% of our children receive public assistance, and 90% qualify for free or reduced school lunches. 
  • Membership applications indicate that 75% of members’ families earn less than $25,000 a year. 
  • Also, more than 70% of our children come from single-parent homes, with the majority headed by a mother or grandmother. 
  • More than 60% of our children live in Allston-Brighton while 40% of our children live in other Boston neighborhoods, including Dorchester, Roxbury and Mattapan.

Annual membership is only $15 per year, but no child is ever turned away due to lack of funds.
