Andrea Howard, Executive Director

Andrea Howard has more than twenty years experience in the field of youth development. She has served at the executive level for seventeen years in Boys & Girls Clubs, with her prior position as the founding Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County, Florida. Andrea returned to her hometown of Boston in 1999 when she was named Executive Director at the West End House Boys & Girls Club, and then focused her efforts on revitalizing the hundred-year old organization. During her tenure at the West End House, she has led a $7.5 million capital campaign to renovate and expand the building, strengthened leadership by recruiting new Board members, secured financial resources that grew the endowment from $400,000 to $2.5M, reengaged West End House alumni to provide financial support, and implemented a strategic plan to better serve youth and families. Andrea holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston College and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Southern Alabama, and was a recipient of the Robert W. Woodruff Fellowship from the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. She has participated in LeadBoston and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Music and Youth Initiative, a non-profit organization that provides after-school music education and enrichment programs.

Kristin Rhuda, Director of Operations

Kristin Rhuda has worked in youth development for thirteen years and previously managed an after-school program at a local public housing development before joining the West End House in 2001. Since Kristin was promoted to her current position in 2004, she has increased daily attendance by 30% by creating and refining programs that respond to the needs and interests of neighborhood youth. Kristin is trained to manage and analyze data using our online Member Tracking System (MTS). She is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the West End House, managing program staff, tracking youth progress through the evidence-based Survey of Afterschool Youth Outcomes tool so that she can create and refine programs accordingly, and creating and implementing community partnerships. Kristin was a 2004 recipient of the Robert W. Woodruff Fellowship from the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and holds a Master of Business Administration from Babson College.

Jenny Nute, Program Director

Jenny Nute holds more than fifteen years experience in youth development. She previously served as a City Year Service Leader, and began working at the West End House in 1999. Jenny is responsible for supervising the leadership development program, Keystone Club, and hiring and mentoring teen employees working through the Peer Leaders program. Additionally, Jenny is trained to manage and analyze data using our online Member Tracking System (MTS). Jenny’s strong interpersonal skills and extensive time at the West End House have enabled her to develop nurturing relationships with younger children and then continue to provide crucial support as they mature into young adults. Jenny has been an advocate for several West End House teens who had previously dropped out of school and wanted to return to school; she has accompanied these teens and their families to meetings with Boston Public School officials to ensure that teens will receive the support they need to re-enter school, graduate and continue on to college. Jenny was recognized by the Boys & Girls Clubs of America for her commitment to our youth and families with the 2004 Contribution to the Profession Award.
