Sports Fitness & Nutrition

The New Balance Kids in Motion program, is a comprehensive fitness program that integrates the concept of a “healthy lifestyle” into everything we do.  The program has both increased the number of youth served and improved the quality and diversity of activities available.  Each day, the club offers between 8 and 10 hours of fitness activities – ranging from creative movement and hip hop in the dance studio, to walking club in the outdoors, to breakout challenge in the gym.

Our Kids Café is an important component of the New Balance Kids in Motion program.  With the support of the Greater Boston Food Bank, our members receive a free nutritious snack and hot nutritious meal each day the West End House is open. During the school year, we provide snack and dinner for all members and in the summer we provide breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner. Our staff ensures that each meal is healthy, nutritious, and kid friendly. We strive to provide each member with a foundation of good health that will last for a lifetime. Here are some highlights of the New Balance Kids in Motion program:

Nutrition education and culinary arts

These programs help our young people learn how to cook along with teaching them about nutrition and healthy eating.

Instructional leagues and traveling teams

We offer organized sports teams, for young people of all levels, in basketball, soccer, swimming, lacrosse, baseball, softball, and more. 

Gym games

Daily games such as kickball, capture the flag, obstacle courses and much more help our youth practice teamwork and demonstrate sportsmanship.

Outdoor activities

 Biking, camping, skiing and hiking are offered at different times during the year to help our youth appreciate the great outdoors.

Girls Gym and Girls Fitness

Girls only activities ensure that our female youth members participate in sports and fitness programs in a nurturing environment.

Breakout Challenge

Through incentives, encouragement, and recognition, our members are led through a fun workout routine that includes calisthenics, running, creative movement, games and obstacle courses.
